About this tutorial #

Find the version you run, update a site from 1.0.0 or 1.0.1 to 1.0.2 by replacing files, use maintenance mode, back up the four parts of an installation, review the security controls built into the product, and choose between Self-Service and the optional Priority Support plan.

What you will learn #

  • Where to find your version: About Academy & Exam OS, the VERSION file and manifest.json
  • How updates are delivered — the product download in your OsDot account, independent of Priority Support
  • 1.0.0 or 1.0.1 → 1.0.2: application files only, no database migrations, no browser upgrade wizard
  • Maintenance mode (Web/storage/maintenance.flag) and the php bin/cake upgrade check command
  • Licensed installations stay activated; the mobile app’s API is unchanged, so rebuilding is optional
  • Backups: the database, config/app_local.php, config/installed.php and Web/storage/ — storing, restoring and testing them
  • Roles and permission sets, sign-in rate limits, password-reset link expiry and sign-out on permission changes
  • Audit / Logs and encrypted integration credentials
  • Server checklist: HTTPS, security headers, document root, database privileges and uploads
  • Support options: Self-Service (included) and the optional Priority Support plan
