How to set up the AI writing helper in Salon Booking OS

The AI writing helper drafts a text for you beside a few fields of the administration: a service’s description, the About page’s text, a website page’s text and an FAQ’s answer. You ask for a draft, read it, and insert it into the field or discard it. Nothing is saved until you save the page as usual.

It is off on a new site and does nothing until you set it up with your own account at an AI provider. Everything in Salon Booking OS by OsDot™ works without it: you write your texts yourself, as before.

Setting it up #

You need an account and an API key at an AI provider; the Provider list on the settings page shows the providers you can choose. Your provider bills you directly for what the helper uses; Salon Booking OS by OsDot™ adds nothing.

  1. Open System → AI writing helper (the owner).
  2. Tick Enable AI writing helper.
  3. Choose the Provider. Leave Model (blank: the first listed for the provider) empty, or type a model name your account can use. The page lists the models known for each provider; model names change over time, so check your provider’s own list.
  4. Enter your API key (your business’s own). It is stored encrypted and never shown again: the field then says “Stored securely”. To replace it, type a new one; to remove it, tick Remove stored API key. Changing the provider without a new key removes the old key.
  5. Keep Writing helper at On, and set the caps: Drafts a month (all accounts) (200 on a new site), Tokens a month (all accounts) (300,000) and Seconds to wait for an answer (30).
  6. Choose Save settings, then Validate saved configuration to check the key with the provider. No text is made by the check.

AI → AI usage shows the month’s drafts and tokens against your caps, whether the helper is on, and the last 50 drafts: when, who, the outcome, the provider and model, and the tokens. No text is kept.

Using it #

Who may use the helper is a permission: Use the AI writing helper (the owner’s on a new site; see Roles and permissions).

  1. Beside the field, choose Draft with AI.
  2. Under What should the draft do?, choose Improve the wording, Make it shorter, Make it friendlier, Make it more formal, Fix spelling and grammar or Something else (say what) with a one-line note.
  3. Tick the context you want it to use, such as the service’s name.
  4. Choose Draft. Cancel stops waiting.
  5. Read the draft. Choose Insert to put it in the field, or Discard. Then edit it as you like and save the page.

What the helper never does #

  • It never saves, publishes or sends anything by itself.
  • It never sends a text, note or context that contains an e-mail address or a phone number: the page warns you and Draft cannot be chosen.
  • It does not show a draft that contains a web address, an e-mail address or a phone number.
  • It never falls back to another provider, or to made-up text, when your provider does not answer: it says so.
  • It stops at your monthly caps, and at six drafts a minute per account. Two drafts at the same moment can never both pass the last of your allowance.

While the helper is off, the owner sees a short hint beside the field with the way to the settings; other accounts see nothing. Without JavaScript nothing shows, and the field works as before.
