White-Label & Branding
2 min read
You can present your Academy & Exam OS installation under your institute’s own brand. Everything in this guide is done in the staff area or in the app’s build profile — no code changes are needed.
Two different things #
Keep these two concepts apart:
| What it means | Where it is covered | |
|---|---|---|
| Branding your own installation | Your institute’s name, logo, colours and contact details on your permitted installation(s) and in your own app | This guide |
| Reseller / White-Label edition rights | Rebranding the software itself and reselling it to your own customers | Reseller / White-Label Edition Guide |
The Single Site and Multi Site licences permit customisation and white-labelling of your own licensed installation(s), but they do not permit reselling or redistributing the software. Your exact rights are in LICENSE.html in your download; see also the OsDot License Agreement.
What you can brand #
| Item | Where |
|---|---|
| Site icon (favicon) | Website & CMS → Branding & Website Settings |
| Site name, logo, tagline, primary and navigation colours, footer text | Branding & Website Settings → Edit website settings |
| Institute name, legal name, address and contact details | Website & CMS → Business Profile |
| Contact form, map and visible contact information | Website & CMS → Contact Page |
| About page and its image | Website & CMS → About Us |
| Homepage slides, sections and featured content | Website & CMS — see Website & CMS |
| App name, application ID and icons | The app’s production profile and native projects — see Flutter Mobile App — Setup & Configuration |
Fonts and page layouts are fixed; there are no theme presets in version 1.0.2.
Set your site name, logo and colours #
- Sign in as the owner or an administrator.
- Open Website & CMS → Branding & Website Settings (
/staff/settings/branding) and upload your site icon (favicon). - Open Edit website settings (
/staff/manage/settings). - Edit the site name, the tagline, the primary and navigation colours and the footer text.
- To add your logo, choose Add setting, select Logo image as the setting key and upload your image. A new installation has no logo setting until you add it; after that you change the logo with its Edit button.
- Save each setting and reload your public website to check the result on a phone and a desktop.
The site name starts as the institute name you entered in the installer. The tagline is stored with your branding; the included website and app do not display it (the footer shows the footer text).
Enter your business details #
- Open Website & CMS → Business Profile (
/staff/website/business). - Enter the company or institute name, legal name, address and contact details. They appear in the footer and on the contact page.
- Open Website & CMS → Contact Page (
/staff/website/contact) to set the contact form, the map embed and the visible contact information. Messages sent through the form arrive privately under Contact Messages and are never published.
The “Powered by OsDot™” footer #
The public website footer shows Powered by OsDot™ (linked to osdots.com) beside your copyright line. To hide it on your public website:
- Open Edit website settings (
/staff/manage/settings). - Edit Show “Powered by OsDot™” in footer and set it to
false.
Your footer text and copyright line are not affected. The staff area footer always shows the attribution and has no setting.
Brand your mobile app #
The app’s name, application ID and icons are set when you build it:
SITE_NAMEin the production profile — the name students see in the app and under the launcher icon;ANDROID_APPLICATION_ID— your own Android application ID;- the launcher icons in the Android and iOS projects, and the iOS display name.
See Building the Android App and iOS Project & Xcode Requirements.
