How reviews work in Salon Booking OS

After a completed appointment, the client is asked by e-mail for a review. The review shows on your website’s reviews page and in the homepage’s “What customers say” once it is published.

How a client writes a review #

  • After a completed appointment — once the appointment is marked Completed — the client gets an e-mail with a link to a short form: stars for the service (required), stars for the stylist when one stylist did the appointment (optional), and an optional text of up to 2,000 characters.
  • Signed in, a client also finds Write a review on a completed appointment under My bookings. Their own reviews are under My reviews in their account menu, each with its state; Delete removes one.

The link in the e-mail opens the page Write a review. After sending, the client sees a thank-you page, and the review waits for you under Reviews → Reviews.

Publishing, answering and hiding #

Open Reviews → Reviews (the owner). The reviews are grouped as Waiting to publish, Published and Hidden, each with its ratings, its text, its author and what it is about.

  • Publish now publishes a waiting review. Under Settings you also choose how many days a review waits before it publishes.
  • To hide a review, choose a reason under Hide because — Abusive or hateful, Personal data, Not about the service or product or Unlawful content — and choose Hide. Show again brings it back.
  • Reply in public adds your salon’s answer under the review: write it and choose Save the reply. Remove the reply takes it away.

Settings, at the bottom of the same page:

  • Ask every customer for a review after a completed appointment or a delivered order — on or off (on for a new site).
  • Days before a review publishes itself (0: at once) — 0 to 14 (7 on a new site).
  • How reviews are checked (shown on the public page) — your note on the public page. A new site starts with a note of its own; change it to your own words if you like, but keep it true.

Choose Save the settings. Publishing after the waiting days needs the scheduled task (see Scheduled tasks (cron)).

A stylist’s own ratings #

A stylist sees the ratings clients gave them under Reviews → My ratings, with the reviews they come from, once their sign-in is linked to their stylist record (see Your team’s sign-ins). The same page has Show my rating on the website and Stop showing my rating.

Where reviews show #

Published reviews show on:

  • the page Reviews (/reviews), with every published review and the average;
  • the home page’s section What customers say, with your figures and the newest reviews. It is listed on Website → Homepage as the section Reviews; untick Shown on the homepage there to leave it out.

The page How reviews are checked (/reviews/how-we-check) shows your note.

When the home page’s hero is set to Side by side, it can also show a badge with your rating and the number of published reviews (see The website, the team and your profile).

On the public demo, the demo’s reviews are each marked “Demo review”.
